Review: Seducing Stag by Laurann Dohner

Author: Laurann Dohner

Title: Seducing Stag

Series: Cyborg Seduction #10
Beings: Cyborgs

Bought from: Amazon
Read format: Ebook

Rating: 4 stars

Story:

Stag and the crew of the Varnish are on a mission, responding to a distress signal of a freighter that has been attacked by the Markus Models. Instead of finding the enemy, they discover one sole survivor. Nala’s a human, and having suffered at their hands during his time on Earth, there’s no species Stag despises more. But when the petite woman confuses him for an android and tries to order him around, Stag decides she’ll live—and pay for her slights.

Nala Vestria has lost her freighter, her crew and her father, only to become personal maid to a cyborg. Stag is surly, short-tempered, and completely untrusting of humans … not to mention intense, commanding, and maybe the hottest being Nala has ever seen. When she finds him temporarily at her mercy, Nala isn’t sure if she wants to kill him or kiss him. Then again, life is short. She opts for the latter.

Nala swiftly becomes a distraction Stag can’t afford, especially after he’s had a carnal taste of what the woman has to offer. He’ll take her back to Garden, his home planet, and be rid of her — as well as the emotions she evokes. But as their journey home becomes harrowing, Nala may prove to be more of an asset than a liability. To both the ship … and the lonely cyborg who commands her.

Review:

I enjoyed this book, just like I've enjoyed every other book I've ready by Laurann Dohner. Her writing style feels unique and the stories are easy to fall into. Once I started reading it, I had to finish it.

In this story, we have Stag, who doesn't like humans. I worried the book would be similar to Zorus's book since he also was a character who didn't like humans, but the stories were nothing alike, which was great.

I liked both Stag and Nala, but I think Maze and Hellion were my absolute favorites! I really hope Hellion gets his own book because he's so different from all the other characters Laurann has created.

The story jumped around a little bit too much, though. First the Marcus Models, then something else, and again something else instead of following a red thread throughout the whole book. This didn't bother me much. Overall, I found this book entertaining, funny, and not too emotional. So if you're looking for something to relax to, then I highly recommend this book.

Haunted by the King of Death (Eternal Mates Romance Series Book 11)
Felicity Heaton

A ruthless vampire warrior, Grave Van der Garde rules the mercenary Preux Chevaliers with an iron fist, determined to retain his hard-won position as one of the most powerful men in Hell and his reputation as the heartless King of Death. But beneath the cold façade beats the heart of a vampire torn between love and hate, ripped in two directions by a single ethereally beautiful female—his fated phantom mate.

Driven by her phantom instincts, Isla used a spell to make her solid in order to deceive the vampire who killed her sister’s demon mate and have revenge on him, condemning him with a single kiss to become a phantom too. But her plan took an unexpected turn when she fell in love with him, and with her new life, and the night she betrayed him shattered both of their hearts. Now, he lives to make her suffer through their connection, one that is fading with them as they begin to slip into the phantom world, and she must face the monster she created if she is to save herself and the vampire she still loves.

With a demon from Grave’s past determined to destroy him and everything he holds dear, and the clock ticking down to their inevitable doom, can he and Isla overcome their past and their pride to work together to claim the future they both desire deep in their hearts? Or will death finally catch up with the vampire king and his phantom mate?

Tangled Sin by Georgia Lyn Hunter

Georgia Lyn Hunter is coming out with a new book! It's called Tangled Sin, and I myself look forward to reading it. Find out more below, and don't miss the two very interesting excerpts! :)

About Georgia Lyn Hunter:

I’ve been creating stories from the moment I could string two words together. No matter the tale, it always has romance woven through them. Yes, I'm a hopeless romantic.
When I’m not writing or plotting new books, I like to read, travel, painting, or troll flea markets where I usually buy things I might never actually use because they're so pretty.
After working in a few jobs all art related, a chosen career as a fashion designer, then an art teacher, I finally found my passion four years ago: writing. There really is no other job I’d rather do.
Oh, and I hail from the beautiful country of South Africa, and currently live in the Middle East.

EXCERPT 1: opening chapter (PG)

He had another damn tail on him!
Did the bastard really want to die?
Riley snagged a shot glass and filled the ordered green poison. With Satire’s jam-packed from the rush of tourists, it was the only thing nailing his feet to the floor from an all out fight. And this one was brave enough to sit in his bar and eyeball him for the past hour.
In this world, his kind tended to blend in with mortals and usually kept below the radar for a simpler life. But not this asshole. He had no idea he was dancing with death right now.
Already on edge, his body wound too tight as restlessness clawed at his psyche, Riley sent the absinthe sliding toward the demon down the counter. The male grabbed the thing and tossed it back like water.
The demon’s human girlfriend leaned against his arm and peered at Riley beneath her lashes. He met her sultry stare as he readied a line of shooters for a noisy trio of college kids.
Oh, yeah, his looks and badass rep were the perfect draw, got him the females. So easy to accept her invite but he wasn't interested in a quick backroom bang.
He was in need of something violent. Bloody.
A dark haze stole into his mind, knowing his damn past would never leave him alone. His fingers clenched. A loud shatter, and glass rained onto the scoured wooden counter. Blood and vodka ran over his hand, drenching the crystal fragments.
“Rile-man, you okay there?”
A six foot two hulking tattooed male with a buzz cut, appeared at his side. Zacarias. His friend, manager and sometimes bouncer.
A terse nod. He looked up from his bleeding hand, his gaze colliding with those of his watcher.
Anger unleashed, he scaled the counter in movements too fast for human eyes and was across the floor in seconds. Grabbing the dark-haired demon by his shirt, Riley shoved him against the red brick wall. “Why the fuck are you on my ass again? Do you want to die?”
All the demon guards hounding him in recent months were seriously pissing him off. No matter how many he sent back to the Dark Realm wounded or dead, more just took their place.
This idiot didn't even try to fight back. His gaze grew languid, his smile seductive. “No. But I know what I do want,” he purred, walking his fingertips up Riley’s chest.
The haze turned red. Riley slammed his fist into the demon’s gut. The male squeaked in pain. Startled gasps erupted from the customers. Before he could get in another shot, someone grabbed his arm and yanked him off the cowering demon, who hurriedly slunk away.
“What the hell’s wrong with you?” Zac snapped. “You want to draw notice, you’re sure going about it the right way. So the guy came on to you, it never drove you homicidal before.”
Riley elbowed Zac off. Not a guard—not a damn guard! He’d hit an innocent demon—one of those docile Otium demons who’d escaped the tyranny of the Dark Realm for a better life here. Fuck, fuck, fuck!
“Get your damn self together,” Zac growled. “You don’t want to start an all-out fight in the bar. Go walk the streets, find something outside to kill, and cool the crap off.”
Breathing hard, Riley walked out of the bar and into the crowded street, the familiar reek of seafood enclosing him. Avoiding the noisy tourists and drunks loitering about, he cut through the back alleys in the French Quarter, rife with the stench of decaying waste, and headed for his apartment several blocks away.
Unable to expend the rage roiling inside him, he pulled out his cell phone from his pocket and made a call. A female answered.
“See you in ten.” He rang off.
Pandora was one of the few humans who knew what he was. She didn't want the ties either, just some fun time, and she was the perfect submissive when he needed that edge. Tonight, he was definitely in the mood for something darker.
The sounds of a roaring V8 engine split the silence, a blood-red Corvette Stingray came to a squealing halt in front of his building, the acrid burn of rubber stinking up the night air.
He scowled. “Damn maniacal drivers!”
The door flung open. A petite, but curvy female jumped out and flipped back yards of wavy, inky-black hair, giving him a tantalizing glimpse of her face. Her tan skin revealing her mixed-race ethnicity, her lush mouth flattened in a tight line.
Cursing, she kicked the tire then pressed her cell phone back to her ear. “I swear, Zayn, if you tell Mother you spoke to me, I will personally call all your girlfriends and tell them they aren’t the one…” She laughed evilly. The light, raspy sound grazed his senses with an unexpected sensuality, and had him slowing to a halt in the shadows.
“Yeah, that’s me, spawned from the devil, but Daddy wouldn’t appreciate the comparison…” She listened then snorted, impatiently pushing back her heavy fall of hair. “Liz loves me like her own. Stop complaining and tell Mother you haven’t seen me because I'm not coming to another boring party… Who?— Why would I care if Piers is back in town, he’s your friend…”
She marched alongside her car, hip-bumped the door closed as she listened, the streetlight casting a soft glow over her irate features. “Yes-yes, I'm always careful…” Despite her tart response, she cut a quick look around.
Riley stilled as her dark gaze skimmed past him then darted back to the spot where he allowed his form to blend in with the shadowy trees, the cover of night his camouflage. A frown marred her smooth brow.
She sensed him? How, he had no idea. Obviously, all her senses were in working order.
The faint reek of decaying swamp and sulfur drifted to him. Riley narrowed his gaze. They weren’t alone. And this little human probably couldn’t smell the bile-inducing stench of evil—had no idea how close to danger she truly was.
He willed her to get back in her car and leave. She did nothing of the sort. Instead, she popped the trunk, tugged out a large suitcase, and dumped it on the sidewalk. Then she sat on the thing and continued her call as if basking in the Maldives.
Un-flippin-believable!
Him, she sensed, but the evil drawing closer just flowed over her pretty little head.
For hell’s sake, did she not get a whiff of the damn stink?

EXCERPT 2 (R)
Saia pushed back her damp hair and tried to comb through the tangles with her fingers when boot steps sounded in the other room.
Her gaze darted to the entrance.
With a quick smile, Ikaria hurried off, abandoning her. Of course, she’d see this as exciting.
A tall, dark figure filled the doorway of the bathroom. Then he stepped into the light.
Christ, she still had to get used to Riley looking this way.
Too big, too handsome. Too…dangerous.
He didn’t say a word. Or look at her.
So he was still mad? That made two of them.
Scowling, Saia watched as Riley undressed. He yanked off his boots, and they dropped with a dull thud on the floor, followed by his socks. His hands lowered to his waist. He unzipped and stripped off his pants, tossing them aside.
Saia stared, unable to tear her gaze away. Naked, he looked incredible. No longer lean. But more muscular. Bigger. Tougher. Hard ropes of corded muscle delineated his abs and flowed to lean hips…and his semi-erect sex.
She swallowed hard. Her gaze rushed to his face, but he didn't look her way. He stepped into the enormous pool of water she’d just bathed in, sat down, and soaped himself. Hypnotized, she watched his hand slide over his battered skin, across his wide shoulders, thick biceps, down his pecs and below the waterline to his…groin.
She dragged in a raspy breath.
Hair lathered, he disappeared beneath the undulating surface, reappeared, water sluicing over him. He pressed a black stone near his arm. The low ceiling above the bath opened up, and through the millions of holes, the rustling shower fell over him like rain, while the pool drained.
Finally, his gaze shifted to her. The edge of danger she’d always sensed in him was now out in spades. It honed and redefined the angles of his face, his entire bearing.
He leaned back in the bath, his arms braced on the ledge as he studied her with an assessing and very, very sensual stare.
If he thought she was just going to walk over and let him have his way…
His gaze slid from her face to linger on her breasts then moved slowly down her body. She lost her train of thought. How did he do that? With just a look, he left a trail of fire in his perusal.
“Come here, Saia.” The quiet demand had her pulse quickening.
Her fingers bunched the fabric of her dress, her feet trying to find purchase on the marble floor.
When she didn't move, he rose from the bath, a tower of bronze skin and rippling muscles, water flowing down his mouth-watering body past his erect sex.
She stopped breathing.
He strode over and swept her into his arms. Her breath escaped in a harsh rush, she clutched him around his neck. He walked down the black steps again and stepped into the inch of water remaining at the bottom of the marble bath. From the massive ceiling, the shower splattered down, drenching her within seconds. She blinked the drops from her eyes and scowled. “I'm wet.”
“And I plan to make you even wetter, before I lick every inch off you.” He regarded her with such primal hunger, heat spread through her veins like a runaway fire. He let her slide down his naked body, every hard ridge of him making her senses spin.
He ran his knuckles along her jaw. His gaze softened. “I can fuck you ten ways, Saia. But I far prefer to make love to you.”

Faced with having to end her beloved twin to stop him from bringing all of Hell to its knees before him, will Taryn be strong enough to use the very blade he seeks against him? Excerpt
The mountains seemed endless, stretching as far as his eyes could see across one hundred and eighty degrees of his field of vision. Bleu stood high on a cragged ledge, his back to a black mountain that many in Hell would find forbidding, because it marked the border of the dragon realm. He could see a few flying into the realm, their jewel colours bright against the dull grey sky. He hadn’t lived in the time when dragons had been free to fly in the mortal realm, but he could easily imagine how majestic they would have appeared against a dazzling blue backdrop spotted with pale clouds.
Dragons had been allies of the elves once, so many millennia ago that the only proof they had of their friendship were tattered pieces of the ancient records of the elven kings and queens, scratched onto thick leather now so brittle they would break if someone dared to remove them from the delicate glass case that contained them in the castle.
The castle.
Bleu turned his gaze towards it, instinctively aware of which direction his home lay in, feeling the familiar tug in his gut that told him to return to it. He had business there, and he had never been one to ignore his instincts. They were rarely wrong, and right now they were blaring a warning at him to step back from the dragon realm and seek a safer course of action.
He needed a team if he was going to venture into the realm of dragons and dare to question them about one of their own kind.
It was too dangerous to head in alone.
Dragons were fiercely protective of their own kind, even those they knew had committed a crime that had given their species a black name in the language of the elves.
He didn’t fancy ending up as roasted elf, so he would return to the castle and form his team—the same trio of warriors that had been with him the last time he had hunted the female dragon.
He focused on his body, calling his portal, and green-purple light shimmered over the scales of his black armour. Darkness swallowed him and when it receded, he was standing in the bright sun-filled verdant courtyard of the castle.
It towered above him, a beautiful mixture of pale and dark stone quarried from the mountains, shaped to form tall towers topped with conical tiled roofs set on a series of large square buildings with balconies that ran across their length. The main building stood five storeys tall, and the thick towers rose to spear the darkening sky and added another six levels.
A warm breeze chased over the high walls surrounding the castle and rustled the leaves of the trees in the orchard around him, carrying the scent of their blooms. Nature embraced him again, a tender touch that soothed him after being surrounded by the darkness of the demon and dragon realms.
He began to relax and then tensed again when Prince Loren appeared right in front of him, his handsome face dark and his violet eyes flashing as he shoved his fingers through his neat blue-black hair and began to pace. His formal knee-length jacket flapped around his legs with each agitated stride across the pale gravel path that spread outwards from the portal, intersecting the lush grass that grew beneath the trees.
Something was wrong.
Wrong enough that his prince had left a council meeting to come straight to him.
Before he could ask his prince what was bothering him, Loren turned on him.
The dark crescents beneath his prince’s eyes concerned him and he took a step forwards, growing determined to find out what was worrying him and find a way to relieve his prince of whatever burden his shoulders held.
“Where have you been?” Loren said, a slight sombre edge to his voice as he halted before Bleu, his bright violet eyes searching Bleu’s. “You have failed to return to the castle since Vail came.”
There was a tone in those last three words that conveyed a wealth of hurt but relief too. Loren always sounded that way when speaking of his younger brother, but Bleu held no love for the mad prince himself, not since he had gone to war with Loren and the elf kingdom, and had decimated an entire legion of the army.
The legion Bleu had served in under Vail.
He had been one of only a handful of survivors.
He wasn’t sure he would ever be able to think well of Vail, not even after everything they had learned about the reasons he had attacked his own kind. The things he had seen Vail do were branded on his mind, seared on his soul, together with the deep pain he had caused Loren. Bleu couldn’t forgive him.
“It has been a lunar cycle… so I will ask again… where have you been, Bleu?”
A month?
He could only stare at Loren as that sank in. He had thought it had been a week at most since he had left the castle, intent on returning to the last place he had seen the dragon female and seeing if he could uncover any clues that might lead him to her.
A month.
“Did your disappearance and subsequent avoidance of your home have anything to do with Vail… because he has left with Rosalind.” There was a softer note to his prince’s voice now, a soothing one that had no effect on Bleu as it dawned on him that his leaving had in part been because of Vail’s sudden appearance.
But not because he despised Loren’s brother.
He rolled his shoulder in a casual shrug, trying to let the epiphany roll off him just as easily, but failing dismally. His mood blackened again, just as it had that night a month ago when he had learned another fool had fallen under the spell of a bond.
A male no one in their right mind could love had found someone who loved him, and fuck had it stung.
“Good for him,” Bleu muttered and turned to walk away.
“Answer me, Bleu,” Loren barked and he halted, freezing to the spot and aware of the danger he was in.
Loren rarely raised his voice, especially to him. When he did, he meant business, and right now his prince was throwing off vibes that warned he was liable to break with convention and throw him in the cells if he was disobedient. It would be a first. Bleu had mouthed off to him, had behaved with little respect at times, and never had his prince punished him.
Bleu slowly turned back to face him.
“Did you stay away because of Vail?” Loren whispered, a heartfelt plea for an answer that told Bleu his prince didn’t want to punish him this time either, but people were watching them closely, and they would expect Loren to do just that if Bleu showed an ounce of disrespect.
He shook his head. “No… Vail isn’t the reason I have been away from the castle.”
It was the truth.
Well, mostly the truth. Vail wasn’t the whole reason he had left or the reason why he had been away.
He had just been the last straw.
Seeing Vail bonded to his fated female on a day that had been Loren’s wedding day to his own mate Olivia, and had brought the happily mated couples of Sable and Thorne, and Bleu’s sister Iolanthe and her mate Kyter to the elf kingdom had hit Bleu hard.
He hadn’t really thought about his actions at the time. He hadn’t really considered why he had left or what he had been feeling. He’d had a pressing need to investigate the dragon and he had left to do just that.
But an entire month had passed, and the look in Loren’s eyes told him that he had worried him, that the tone Bleu had heard in his voice and the sombre edge to his eyes had nothing to do with Vail, and everything to do with him, and that Loren wanted answers now.
Bleu had none to give to him, at least none that answered the questions in Loren’s eyes, because he didn’t want to look too closely at his reasons for leaving.
Instead, he would give his prince a safer explanation for his behaviour.
“I tracked the dragon,” he said and Loren’s expression gained a curious edge and he stepped closer to Bleu. Bleu sighed and raked his fingers over his longer hair, preening it back from his face as he tried to figure out where to begin. He knew how important the sword was to Loren, and he had sworn to retrieve it, and now he felt he was on the verge of fulfilling that promise. “I believe she has returned to her own realm for some reason. Perhaps the dragons there are hiding her, or she has gone to see someone, or she believes she will be able to conceal herself again among her own kind. I only returned to assemble a team so I might track the dragon into her own realm.”
Loren began pacing again, his head bent and the thumb of his left hand playing on his lip. His prince had never been able to keep still when thinking. It drove the council of elders mad when he silently paced back and forth in front of his throne, and that often amused Bleu no end. Anything that pissed off the council was fantastic in his opinion. They were antiquated idiots who stuck firmly to the rules and had given his prince nothing but pain and heartache for the forty-two centuries he had been at war with Vail, constantly badgering him to kill his brother.
Bleu had been all for killing Vail, but he never had been able to bring himself to do it whenever they fought. He had always faltered when dealing the killing blow, aware of the devastating pain it would cause Loren if he took Vail’s life.
Now the council were probably giving Loren hell as he attempted to convince them to allow Vail back into the elf kingdom now that he had proven he had been nothing but a pawn, a puppet controlled by a dark witch, and was maddened by the terrible things he had done.
Bleu couldn’t see them agreeing to that, and he couldn’t see his prince giving up this time either. Loren was a stubborn bastard at times, especially where those he loved were concerned.
“I have experienced fleeting sensations.” Loren glanced across at him but didn’t slow his pacing, taking long strides across the path, only needing three to reach the grass before he had to turn back around.
His prince needed a bigger space to work off some of his tension. Bleu would have offered to spar with him, but the urge to pull his team together and head into the dragon realm was growing stronger, and the thought of delaying his departure was near painful. He had to get back to the dragon realm.
He had to find her.
“They are familiar… and it took me some time, but I have realised what they are. It is the sword.” Loren huffed and his lips twisted into a grim, self-reproaching smile. “I admit that it has taken me some time to decipher the sensation… because my connection to it is not as strong as Vail’s… but it has surfaced again. Perhaps the dragon has retrieved it from wherever she hid it?”
Bleu didn’t like the sound of that. They still didn’t know why the dragon had stolen it or whether she had any ill intentions. She could easily decimate an entire demon army with it. But if that had been her agenda, why would she have waited so long to carry it out?
Why had she hidden the sword?
He wanted to believe that she viewed the sword as treasure and only treasure, but there was still a part of him that feared she meant to use it, that she had been waiting for some reason. Dragons could see the future if they were born of a strong bloodline. Had she seen something in her future and had stolen the sword because of it, and had been waiting all this time for that future to come to pass?
Loren’s hand clapped down on Bleu’s shoulder, jerking him away from thoughts of the dragon and what might lie ahead.
“Hunt the dragon. Eliminate her. Retrieve that sword for me, Bleu.”
Bleu had the feeling his prince was more aware of his innermost feelings, the ones he had tried to bury deep and ignore, than he would like and was giving him a mission to focus on in order to take his mind off things.
To give him a purpose again.

Her Cyborg will be out by the end of April.

Chapter 1

Three months later

“Maybe I should apply for a cyborg too,” Phoebe heard Faye laugh on the other side of the phone line. “I want a month away from work too.”
Phoebe laughed back. “Well, it's a little like having a baby, you know. The basic programming is already there, like eating, walking, and so on. I will have to teach him everything else, though. I will live at MedAct for four weeks to help him adapt to society.”
“That sounds like a lot of fun.”
“So why don't you give it a try? You already have the necessary requirements. You're thirty years old, you're single, you're healthy, you have a well-paid job, and a place of your own.”
“Yeah and then there's all that testing to find out how whacked up my head is. You spent months going through that.”
“It's for the cyborg's safety. MedAct wants to make sure that they are with good people. You can never abandon your cyborg because of the bond. It would kill him.”
“And that's why I'm not sure I want to apply for one. I like my privacy.”
“But that's the nice thing with this. You can program him to enjoy some time on his own. You can give him a personality that fits you.”
Faye sighed. “I don't know, Phebs. What if he won't like that part of his programming? He will be an aware being, a person of his own, like you and me, and he will have the option to ignore his programming.”
“It's your choice, Faye.”
“I must admit that I'm tempted, but I will wait and see how things turn out for you before I make my decision.”
“All right. I will call you in a few days and tell you how things are going. I'm entering MedAct in a second.”
“Good luck!”
“Thanks,” Phoebe smiled and ended the call.
She stopped outside the huge building with more glass windows than she could count. She had no idea how many floors there were, but it seemed to be more than fifty. She had taken her classes here and she had been tested here to see if she was suitable to own a cyborg or not. She had signed the papers here and this was where she would live with her cyborg for one whole month. Doctor Jade Silva and her team would have a watchful eye on both of them during that time.
She entered through the wide glass doors. A clean and bright hall with windows instead of walls greeted her. A sign above the reception desk said “MedAct”. Today was the big day. Today, he would open his eyes and look at her for the first time. Nothing could go wrong.
She hurried to the elevators, dragging her wheel bag behind her. She felt like a child who was about to open the best present ever. She noticed people smiling at her when they saw her happiness. She smiled back and stepped into the elevator. It felt like hours for it to reach the right floor. When the doors opened on the eighteenth floor, Doctor Jade Silva was already waiting for her. Her light brown hair was put up in a ponytail and she wore a doctor's robe over her black shirt and jeans. Jade was a slim and short woman with her five feet, two inches stature. Her facial features were sweet and gentle, but her eyes shone with strength and determination Phoebe rarely saw in people's eyes. This woman knew what she wanted and her intelligence was not to be taken lightly.
“Hello, Phoebe,” Jade said and shook her hand. “Are you ready?”
“Oh yes!” Phoebe was unable to hide her excitement.
“Good. Let me show you where you are staying during your visit here.”
Phoebe followed Jade through a long hallway. The walls were white and decorated with beautiful lamps. A gray carpet lay on the floor. There were white doors on both sides and Jade stopped in front of one of them. Phoebe stopped too.
Jade pressed a key-disk against a metallic plate located next to the door. It clicked and the door opened. They walked inside and Phoebe took a look around. The apartment wasn't big. A small kitchen, one bedroom, one small living room, and a bathroom. Everything was clinical and white. No paintings on the walls and no patterns on the curtains.
“This will be your apartment for a few weeks. Make sure he stays in here for at least two or three days before you show him around. Remember, he won't be able to talk in the beginning. It will take a few hours for his brain to function properly. Primitive instincts will drive him during that time and you will need to be there for him. Everything will be confusing to him.”
“I understand,” Phoebe said and placed her bag next to the bed.
Jade looked through the few papers that she held in her hands. “I see that you have taken the shot to prevent pregnancy. That's good. You need to focus on him in the beginning while he learns. Becoming pregnant during that time is not recommended.”
 “I know,” Phoebe answered.
She didn't want that either, but she hoped that they one day would have a child. She had made sure that he would want one in the future. She had put it into his programming, but that was as far as she could go. He had his basic programming, but he wasn't a machine. He was a constructed humanoid with cybernetic implants, created in a laboratory. And once he opened his eyes, he would be a person of his own, capable of questioning his programming. The only thing that would never change was their bond. She owned him and always would. Without her, he wouldn't survive.
The bond was love, literally. He would love her from the first moment he laid eyes on her. During her classes, the teachers had taught her and the other students the importance of the bond. It was the only thing that kept the cyborgs sane. Without it, they went crazy, but most died. She didn't know why, but that was the last thing she wanted to happen to her cyborg.
“Have you chosen a name for him yet?”
Phoebe nodded. “Shade.”
“That's a good name,” Jade said and wrote it down in her papers.
Cyborgs were not allowed to have human names like William, David, or Luke. It was a way of separating them from the humans. Phoebe didn't like that rule, but she had no other choice but to follow it. Cyborgs had made-up names or names of things.
Jade lowered her papers and looked at Phoebe. “So, are you ready to meet him?”
Phoebe's heart raced. “Yes.”
